2002, SRI LANKA [ ICC Champions Trophy ]

 
     In 2002, the ICC Knockout tournament returned to Asia as Sri Lanka volunteered to host the tournament after its neighbour India, who were scheduled to host the tournament, backed down owing to the 'no tax free' policy of its government. 1998, BANGLADESH [ WILLS INTERNATIONAL CUP ]


        The inaugural ICC Champions Trophy took place in 1998 at Dhaka, Bangladesh and was called the ICC Knockout tournament as it was held on a knockout basis. The two bottom-ranked teams New Zealand and Zimbabwe played against each other to determine the final team for the quarter-final stage.
